We thought it might be interesting to look into how Mercury Insurance Company — which aims to surcharge California drivers 40-70% with its new ballot initiative — treats its employees. The results were not encouraging.
Jobvent.com is a site that allows employees to rate their job experience, anonymously. The company’s rankings are scored by rating the company from -5 though +5 in a variety of categories including pay, benefits and job security. Points for any given company are cumulative. So, if a company has 2 reviews and both reviews assign -10 to the company, then the company now has -20 points.
We took a gander at how Mercury scored on the site.
Total average was -0.87. Not great

Overall a crappy place to work. Terrible management. Hostile work environment with management “nazis” runnin’ around. They enjoy being jerks, and that is the part of the job they are good at. They know nothing about claims, except to harass you as you handle the work. Pay was not bad, but that is how they get you to come over, by promising the world. Then they pull the rug out from you.
Save yourself and your career and work for a good company in the insurance industry, like Firemens Fund, State Farm, or Chubb.
